* Requires a connected PowerFT VCU.
The P&H PRO GEN2 uses a 26-pin automotive connector, the same as the Injector Driver PRO. If your vehicle already has an Injector Driver PRO installed, simply unplug it and install the P&H PRO GEN2 in its place. The peak and hold current settings must be reapplied via FTManager.
FuelTech offers the following options to make installation easier:
Harness options are the same as for the previous model.
Can I replace my Injector Driver PRO with a P&H PRO GEN2?
Yes, it's plug-and-play. The P&H PRO GEN2 uses the same 26-pin automotive connector, so you just unplug the old module and install the new one in its place. The peak and hold current settings must be reapplied via FTManager.
Will my Injector Driver PRO wiring harness work with the P&H PRO GEN2?
Yes. The 26-pin automotive connector keeps the same pinout as the previous model, so your existing harness remains compatible: just unplug the old module and install the P&H PRO GEN2 in its place.
Do I need different versions of the product for high- and low-impedance injectors?
No. The P&H PRO GEN2 is compatible with all injector types, including high impedance, with no need for separate hardware versions. Simply set the peak and hold currents in software to match the injector you're using.
Do I need to update FTManager to use the P&H PRO GEN2?
Yes. The P&H PRO GEN2 is compatible with FTManager version 5.70.03 or later.
Can I use the P&H PRO GEN2 without a FuelTech ECU?
Yes, as long as the module has already been configured. A FuelTech VCU is required to perform the initial current setup at least once. Once configured, the module operates by responding to the external command signal.
Is the P&H PRO GEN2 compatible with the Vision series or only the Power FT series?
The module transmits its data over CAN and can be monitored by both the Power FT and Vision series. Current configuration and firmware updates are done through FTManager with a PowerFT VCU connected.
What is transmission control (TCU) mode?
It's an operating mode in which the channel directly follows the external command signal, keeping the current regulated for as long as the command remains active. This allows it to drive automatic transmission control unit (TCU) solenoids and other inductive loads of arbitrary duration.
Can TCU mode be used on only some channels?
No. TCU mode is a global module setting: when enabled, it applies to all 8 channels at once.
Can I use one module in TCU mode and another in injection mode on the same vehicle?
Yes. Both modes can't be combined within a single module, because TCU mode is global and applies to all 8 channels. Across different modules, however, there's no restriction: you can run one P&H PRO GEN2 dedicated to fuel injection and another dedicated to TCU mode on the same vehicle.
Besides automatic transmission solenoids, what other loads can TCU mode drive?
Transmission control (TCU) mode was designed for solenoids commanded by an automatic transmission control unit and other inductive loads that don't follow an injector's fast-pulse pattern. Two conditions must be met: the load must reach the configured peak current within 3 ms (otherwise the channel switches to hold current), and continuous operation is limited by the module's thermal protection.
What's different about injector closing on the P&H PRO GEN2?
Closing is more precise and repeatable, delivering more consistent fuel injection, especially on short pulses, where small variations in closing have a bigger impact.
What faults does the P&H PRO GEN2 detect?
On each channel, the module detects open load and short circuit. It also monitors overall module conditions: supply undervoltage and overvoltage, and temperature. All events are reported in real time over CAN, and protections are configurable: you can choose which faults automatically shut down the channel and which only trigger a warning.
How do I monitor injector operation?
The module transmits dedicated per-channel telemetry over CAN, including the individual status of each of the 8 drivers, supply voltage, module temperature and fault alerts.
Can I update the product's firmware?
Yes. Updates are done over CAN and require a connected PowerFT VCU.
What is the warranty on the P&H PRO GEN2?
The P&H PRO GEN2 carries a 1-year limited warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects.
This product is covered by a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects only.
